In November, the broadliner was recognized with the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association Sales & Marketing Performance Award. More than100 years old, BEK also owns the third largest beer distribution company in the country. It is a member of Markon and the Distribution Marketing Association.

Labatt Foodservice

Labatt services multiunit operators from four distribution centers in Texas with national-brand products. As the 10th largest broadline distributor, 87 percent of business is in multiunit operations. Labatt was named the Great Distributor Organization by ID magazine in 1993.

Merchants acquired Thomas & Howard in Newberry, South Carolina, in 2008. This extended its reach into the Carolinas. Merchants is a founding member of Tailor Made Distribution and one-fourth of its sales are to multiunit accounts. Sixty percent of those sales are to quick serves.

Performance Food Group Customized Distribution services customers in all 50 states and 41 countries. Eight distribution centers deliver a full line of products and specialize in perishables, including fresh seafood, meats, produce, and dairy products. The company is owned by Performance Foodservice, as are the sister divisions VISTAR and Roma Foods. It is estimated that the Customized division makes up just less than half of the company’s sales.
